Okay, yes I’m a 30+something guy, and don’t have any teenage kids yet. But, am I out of the loop or is the new “John Tucker Must Die” movie really the first movie to have its own MySpace.com profile? (I do have a MySpace profile, BTW.)
Thursday night, I saw a commercial for the movie, and was caught off base by the Web site associated with the movie: www.myspace.com/johntucker. Typically, movies have their own domain to promote them.
The profile is a great way for the movie — aimed at teens and 20-somethings — to be promoted: Set up the title character as a real-life person on one of the most popular social Web sites. (Though, John hasn’t logged on to MySpace since March.)

Of course, there are movie trailers. Other features include being able to add John as a friend — of which there are 17,438 as of Friday morning — and then you can join John’s group. There was an undiscovered band contest. And, of most importance, John’s basketball schedule. (Though, what’s a HS team doing playing basketball in May and June?)
More than just a little cool. Peachy. Neato. Rad. Hip.
